- I'm damn sleepy, but my strong resolve made me create this blog. Another example of my strength. If only I apply it for few times, I'd be close to being perfect ! he he he !
- Made mom happy by taking her to the Ashtalakshmi temple she has been asking for. The temple houses different Lakshmis along with Perumal, Anjenaya etc. The temple is undergoing renovation currently. Quite a few narrow staircases and thankfully, very few visitors when we went and hence had a peaceful darshan at all sannithis.
- Relatively less traffic on the return route and visited Pratiyangira temple as well. This was a surprise for me as I couldn't go the last time when parents made a visit. This temple has very different types of statues and huge idols. The priests were full of devotion when compared to the commercialised temples. May She give me the strength I need !
Some answers & some questions that pop up in my mind take the physical err electronic form in this blog... Do u have similar Qs or answers for any of these Qs ? Do let me know...

Life is full of good things - Day2
- Shopping till the legs got tired. I purchased cosmetics after years I should say. Though the prices have skyrocketed, I was happy to buy the different brands under one roof. :D
- Met a friend's friend, a jolly go lucky person. Feels good to meet new people.
- Though it was already late in the night, my mom gave me the option of dining out. Appreciate her confidence in me.
- When a drunkard rammed his bike into our car damaging the headlights, the mob dint shout at us. By God's grace, all are safe. Thank you my Lord!
- We immediately got down from the car and called friends. 4 of them came immediately and helped us back into our senses and dropped me home. Bless them.

2009 - The New year
Let the new year see the beginnings of things you had always hoped for and the end of those habits you want to get rid of!
How did you ring in the new year? We had been to a friend's apartment association celebration and had fun with friends. It was a bit funny as well, as the entertainment turned into playing 'Housie' after dinner on the NY eve and people like were desperately looking for the lady to announce stop of the play instead of the numbers. Finally when it ended at 11.50 pm, we had lost lot of our nails :-) Then came the DJ who preferred melodies and I agree with him, but a Ghajini number on the dance floor?
The good numbers were put off in the first stanza and I was furious when my favorite 'Bhool Bhulaiya' met that end :-(
Overall, it was fun and the beginning act was lots of laugh. Hope the laughter continues into the year as well.

What kept me away?
Well, I'm in a similar position. Haven't actively blogged for a while and now, have got Kilobytes and megabytes of things to share with :-)
Let me begin with the reason for my silence as the first topic.
I took a break from work for a month, after nine years in the corporate world. You may instantly approve the need for a break! I took this time to rejuvenate myself and did what I love to do.
- Stayed back @ home, sweet home till I got bored of the TV. I am not going to complain about saas-bahu serials and their viewers. The women at home and others watch them for lack of better options! (Plenty of time on hand and the absence of objective or goal may force things that are otherwise undersired. This is one of the lessons I've learnt.)
- Cleaned a bit (I have to say a bit, because cleaning and dusting a house are perennial jobs) and organised stuff lying all over the house. (It takes only a minute for the house to revert to its disorganised state and somehow I belive it takes no effort for this reversion!)
- Took up dieting and gymmed daily- I lost a good 4.5 inches and 1.5 kilos (The kilos have now returned back as pounds)
- Played keyboard and regularly went for my classes and practised at home as well (There was no need to dust the keyboard)
- Visited my parents and spent time with my immediate family and friends
- Went on a holiday with my hubby dear to the beaches of Mangalore and forts of Kerala.
- Rest of the time, I was busy shopping, listening to music and lazing around :-)
I simply love those days and I was happy to end the vacation as well.
All is well that ends well :-)
And when I joined work last month, the initial days kept me busy and so, couldn't take time out for blogging.
Here I am and hope to pen mythoughts more frequently.
Wish you all a Merry Christmas and enjoy your vacation too !

The joy of learning
I am the type of person who is interested in studies, as the mere act of learning gives me pleasure! My friends made a joke out of my 'Tagged' post, when they saw a tick mark against studies while almost everyone else had ticked sports :-)
Coming straight to the point - I've enrolled for keyboard classes and thoroughly enjoying them. I'm yet to get mastery on fingering and play the keys like a typewriter sometimes!
Along with the keyboard, I am also unearthing few of my blind spots - i.e. the grey areas within me about which I had been unaware earlier. One of them is that my little finger is weak! I realised it when the ring finger comes to the rescue of little finger and plays the key marked to the latter! Now, as I type this post, I notice that my little fingers are not used for typing at all !
Music has been my favorite since childhood and I was reassured of this when I felt an overwhelming joy after playing my first rhyme 'Mary had a little lamb' last night on the keyboard!
Well, the tutor had given exercises to strengthen the fingers and I wish to play more in the coming days! I love learning :-)

Laugh out loud!
Here is a forwarded mail that sent me into splits :-)
If you have seen any Vijayakanth movie, that is an additional motivation!!

Today is a great day!
Its not the day that matters, its how we enjoy ourselves!
Well, let me come directly to the topic. Its 9 am and I feel all excited about today. This is in spite of the early morning power cut resulting in a cold shower and me running to catch the office bus.
What could be the reasons for the happiness? I experienced the most blissful things of life:
1. The best thing in the world is to be loved
2. The next best thing is to love
To elaborate further, I casually told my hubby last evening that I make it to the bus stop alone daily. Today morning, in the hurry, he wore his sandals and accompanied me. I sighted the bus before crossing the road and ran helter-skelter and managed to board the moving bus.
An hour later, I called him to request him to get my track suits, he tells me that he can never forget today. When I asked him the reason, he told me that he had captured the moment when I turned back to wave at him before boarding the running bus and that this will remain with him forever. Though I think it is funny to see someone with two bags running and waving, I feel good that it happened that way!
The second reason is equally exciting for me. I get a mail from a dear friend that she is getting married to another dear friend of mine! And these two had known each other for more than ten years and I am sure they can make a wonderful pair together. Each of us had dreamed of different lives and are now getting into unexpected twists and turns. All is for good and all is well that ends well. I am so happy for the two and may the Holy God bless the couple!
Now tell me if I need any more reasons to be so happy?

Happy New Year and resolutions
Well, the terms new year and resolutions are tagged together. Everyone talks of it, if not resolving or breaking a resolve!
Do u know why a new year is associated with resolution? I donno ... but I have some guesses.
Anytime through the year, one feels to improvise oneself or the surroundings or something around oneself. This feeling might arise once or few or many or more times as part of day-to-day life, depending on the personality. Most of the times, when the need is not immediate, the natural response from the body is to procrastinate.
What does it wait for? The Christmas?
Almost yes.... but to be exact, it is the new year!
It is a new beginning and an easy start for setting and tracking the goals.
I too take resolutions and many a time, they get broken silently or come crushing down.
And every year I hope not to do them. Hope that this year also!
Well, before that, I need to define them :-)
Have a great year ahead!

Isn't shopping fun?
Well, my hubby and I went out for shopping yday and before we could take a 2-min breather, I had shopped for a dozen set of clothes! The original intention was to pick up 2-3 winter wear and earlier in the day, I was so lazy and reluctant to get out of the house. I was giving lame excuses that the official trip may not come through and that I had enough winter clothes etc.
Once inside the shop, the attitude and the enthusiasm was at a totally different level. I was not even tired of trying out the different brands and picked up almost all the ones I had tried on me :-)
My hubby too sounded cheerful in spite of a big hole in his wallet!!
We love shopping, don't we?

Resolutions...
From Wiki, I learn that the resolutions trace back to BC and that a mythical king by name Janus (from whom January should've got its name!!) is the known originator !
With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.
Hey, Janus is the god of beginnings and the guardian of doors and entrances.
Looks like, he is the Roman version of Indian "Ganesha or Pillayar" :-)
Returning to the topic of resolutions, lot of articles & dedicates websites are available - to help one to come up with ideas, how to resolve, how to keep up resolutions, how not to break them etc etc..
Aren't resolutions taken by an individual to improve one's own self, for one's own benefit??
If so, why is there a need for external motivation or push(that is a better word) ??
Let me stop with that question to ponder !!
BTW, the Roman year didnot begin with Jan, right?
& a very happy new year!!!

Good Morning!
Just how I'm starting this blog ?
An interesting quote from a forwarded mail :
The Truth about Change
You will fail. Not once, not twice, but many, many times. This is how the game works. Believing that you will be able to achieve a lofty goal or dream without a hitch is like believing you can play perfect golf without a single step on a course. It's not negative, it's reality. And a true success uses this as an advantage. When something doesn't go according to plan an adjustment is made and the process resumes. A short-term setback will never bring an end to their ambition.
How true !! Only that it is difficult to follow !!
