Marriage...
So, here's something that I can discuss with you - Does 'Marriage' bring with it complications which outweigh 'Love' between partners?
If it is great to be in love and good to live-in, why is marriage seen as only a commitment (of course I am referring to those who think in that way and they make most part of humankind, these days!)
Just like love is synonymous with heart-breaks, marriage is synonymous with arguments and conflicts.
Sometimes, after a small argument or mis-understanding or difference in opinion, I wonder if it is a healthy sign of two persons bonding together or getting away from each other. And after a heated discussion, I get into the contemplative mode if I did the right thing by getting into a commitment without giving too much of thought and was only led by feelings at that moment. I know, this is a dangerous sign and shouldn't nurture this beyond that level. But, what if it is true? I am scared of the answer! I hope this thought is only momentary and gets drowned in the long run.

Relationship & expectations
We humans have got into a situation where we cannot think of doing an activity without knowing the result, forget about expectations! In a result oriented society, everything is based on outcome and we are trained that way since our birth. The charm of the life is that we still continue to love or 'expected' to love and love selflessly in certain relationships. but, is that feasible? How can a person be pragmatic in everything else but in one or few relationships?
I donno.

Back home
Had a refreshing week away from the ground realities and this helped in giving a new perspective to certain things. So, I would rate this trip as good!
Well, just remembered this quote : Not taking a decision is also a decision, but many times it is not the right decision.

Q in the dream
Well, it just happened that it my early morning dream(on which I don't have any more details, obviously) I remember asking or wanting to ask this question. I don't even know to whom this question was supposed to be addressed.
All I could recollect was that I woke up wondering where I was and by instinct typed the question in the mobile so that I don't forget that interesting Q and went back to sleep soon after that.
Only when I read the note in my mobile later in the day, I recollected the incident.
hmmm... quite interesting and 'm extremely curious to know the answer and more abt the other person:-)

Rakhi and human Multi-threading !
- Women have the sacred yellow thread around the neck, as part of wedding ritual and is the key identifier for her marital status
- Sacred threads around neck as chain or necklace
- Multiple colored sacred threads (Black, red, yellow etc) around the wrists to ward off evil
- Safeguarding threads around the arm biceps :-)
- Threads around the upper torso for men(women too in some cases), popularly known as 'cross-belt' in some communities
- Threads around the waist, esp. for babies
- A decorated thread - Rakhi from sisters to brothers to protect them lifelong
- Threads around wrists during wedding rituals for bride, groom and parents based on the community/family practices
- Threads around ankles is only for fashion purposes I suppose
- Friendship bands around wrists are common in western countries as well
Anyways, a piece of thread bonds us to many relationships, sometimes with the super power as well!
Well, to my dear bro'r: Here's wishing you a great year and a wonderful lifetime! And may God bless you with all that you wish for!Love u!
And for others : Happy Raksha bandan and enjoy threading:-)

Best of luck!
Oops, its an abstract one but!
Had been in a dilemma for the last few days on something and now more or less decided to go ahead and face the music! Maybe, this could turn out to be a wrong move and end up hurting others or myself. On the other hand, I'll be a relieved person that I shared my feelings and true to myself and others involved if I proceed.
I'm prepared enough not to expect a miracle. I'll be more than happy if things continue in the current way. But again, I'm risking it! Is it worth the risk?
No risk means no returns, uh?
Keeping fingers crossed...

Stay away from Modhi Vilayaadu
Inspite of being a director for more than a decade, Saran has lost in almost all quarters - screenplay, story and even the picturisation of songs! Simply wondering how e'thing can go wrong when there are so many talented people involved in the making of a movie!
It has been a long time since I got so pissed off with a movie. My friend watched it mainly because of me and was in no better shape after we came out of the theatre.
You will anyway get to see the very few comedy scenes of Mayilsami & Santhaanam in almost every single Tamil channel. So, Simply stay away from the theatre!

Will Volkswagen takeover Porsche?
Earlier, I had been to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart and was amazed by the models and the way they were arranged across .
Porsche is another victim of the long recession and would personally feel bad to see the brand wither away !
This also creates the usual questions in any M&A:
- Will it be a bigger 'VW' or 'VW-Porsche' post merger?
- How integrated the new unit will be?
- How independent will Porsche be in future (mid 2011)
- What happens during the progressive acquistion period of almost 2 years?
- What about the workforce?
Laughable quote:
"Like Audi today, Porsche can also continue its independent development under the aegis of Volkswagen and preserve its own identity," - Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the Volkswagen management board
From the history stable:
Professor Ferdinand Porsche founded the company called "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH" in 1930,with main offices at Kronenstraße 24 in the center of Stuttgart. Initially, the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting but did not build any cars under its own name. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, a "Volkswagen" in German. This resulted in the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time. The first Porsche, the Porsche 64, was developed in 1939 using many components from the Beetle.

Welcome Aadi
I find this month interesting because of the conflict associated with it. Lemme explain
Generally, all auspicious occasions and beginnings like weddings, house warming functions, even bride/groom hunting events are not planned in this month! This month is more or less treated like a curse. Even the newly married couples are forced to stay with their respective parents ;-)
This on one side and on the another, we have all Hindu deities treating this month very specially!
All fridays are extra-auspicious, esp. for goddesses and many temples have car-festivals so as to say!
There is also a third dimension that has been added by our entrepreneurs and that's the most interesting part, esp. for women! Almost every shop starting from trade giants to mom&pop store offers a huge discount on e'thing from a needle to jewelery! Reason for offering discount was to attract buyers in those ages where every buying had a compelling reason and the reasons were lacking in the inauspicious month. With today's compulsive buyers and experience-seeking consumers, we have come a long way. So also are the Aadi discounts!
Maybe, then this is a month where we have to focus on spiritual aspects with less focus on material bliss(except shopping, of course!).
Some excerpts on the astrological & religious significance of this month:
Aadi falls during the second half of the year known as Dakshinayanam when the Sun transits from the northern hemisphere to the Southern during July.The transition from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere in the month of January is known as Uthirayanam. "Both the periods are auspicious for the worship of the Gods and Goddesses". As the transit of stars takes place during the day Uthirayana, all auspicious functions including marriages are conducted at that period, while during the month of Aadi the transition take place during the night;
Aadi Krithigai and Thai Poosam are important festivals for Lord Subramaniya. For the goddess also the month of Aadi is very auspicious. Aadi pooram and Aadi peruku are very popular festivals in the rural areas of Tamilnadu.

Cheesy bites from Pizza Hut
Well, the menu was: Utterly delicious, yummy or spicy and absolutely sinful item called "pizza" from Pizza Hut. The highlight was the newly introduced 'Cheesy bites' Crust- Exactly, the same lucky thing to touch Lara Dutta's lips! And you gals, don't worry - the dashing Kunal Kapoor is also promoting this!
Well, though I took the job of finalising and making the order for delivery, I wasn't expecting much, as the much-hyped cheesy crust was not of my liking earlier.
Though the actual piece looked a bit different from the mouth-watering advt and pictures, it does taste yummy and extremely soft to eat- it just melts into your mouth. To address the 'sin' part, they weren't as cheesy as shown and anyway, the pizza is only pan type. Maybe, next time I should try the extreme-cheesy bites, if there is any!
With all the gud news, the sad part of the story was that I was the "bakra" today and had to sign the cheque!
Good day guys and great weekend !
For those, who are cautious about calorimeter, here are some feast for your eyes ;-)

Why are birthdays important?
Most of us celebrate birthdays with kith and kin, probably to share the information of our age and hence the expectations surrounding the age.
Certain milestone ages may be more significant like the first year, 15 or 16, 30, 50, 60 and maybe every year after that :-)
Have you ever wondered why a birthday is important or noteworthy, atleast when your birthday is nearing and what is the point in blowing away the candles ?
In my opinion, birthdays make us think, who we are, where I stand in my life and what is it that I want to do with my life. These Qs should be the guiding spirit of one's life, but somehow I remember them only a week or two ahead of the B'days :-)
Well, here is the reason for this topic- it is my "star" bday today! And, 'Happy birthday' to those who celebrate it today.

Tomorrow is the Valentine's day
The safe guardians of culture should attacked the pub owners or should have beat down all including the guys! Why only the weaker sex? One should be fair even if one is doing injustice!
Is Mutalik saying that only the women are responsible for regarding our cultural inheritance? No wonder, his post box is flooded with 'Pink chaddis' & Victoria Secrets :-) though I personally donot approve of sending such stuff to him (He will make money by selling them, what say u?)
My 2 cents : All this drama is to set the stage for the impending Assembly elections in 3-4 months. If not for all this Thamasha, I wouldn't have come to know of this small-time politician!
Or, he has tie-ups with brands like Archies to promote V-day sales! He is a brand ambassador who promotes by asking people not to do things whom he is sure will do it definitely to prove a point!
What more marketing required than this?
Wish u all a happy Valentine's day!

Back When We Were Grownups
I realized something was different as the backdrop was Baltimore, U.S instead of Ann's U.K !
Anyway, this novel is interesting and definitely worth a read. I hope to finish it by today or tomorrow provided I don't doze off early!
I had a fitness competition in my gym in the morning and feeling tired since then! What a way to start the work week :-)
You have a nice week ahead!

Did you cherish the long weekend?
Saturday went off in window shopping (does this term include the numerous trails in vain, as well?)on Brigade road and browsed in my favorite book shop on Church street. Earlier I had planned to visit Indiranagar 100 ft road, but changed the venue when I heard from a friend that 100 ft was crowded with media crew and eagerly onlookers after the Honda-runover incident. Come to think of it, it is sad that pedestrians have neither safety nor the comfort of walking, eventhough walking is the best mode of transport wrt the much-voiced ecological aspect! What an irony :-(
Back to my list of things done - Went on long walks in the evening to CMH road and burnt lot of calories :-(
The next day, 4 of us headed towards Igglur dam - Shall try to post more info on this place, which is 95 Kms from Blr - and Omkar hills on the return journey. It was a long and tiring day with sun back to its scorching mode, already in Jan!
Monday was relaxing - a friend stayed back with us and we played games, watched Republic day parade in between and ate lots of junk.
In the evening, saw the movie Raaz2. That was the first horror movie I had ever seen. I was glad that I didn't get scared very much. In few scenes, I closed my eyes as I felt yucky to see the gory ones.
Enjoy the week ahead!

Recent movies
My weekend went off in seeing these movies. Plzzz do not repeat my mistakes.
Well, for the sake of mentioning, the first 1 hr of Villu is mindless comedy and the rest of the movie is only mindless!
Nothing more to write abt these movies.

Black day for 'Satyam'
I am - having picked up Satyam stocks when they were trading >400. Also, I have friends who are ex-Satyam employees.
The current value of the scrip is 37 :-( Today, it had lost 140 INR. My second experience in having a stock that nose-dived on a single day(First one was RCOM).
Rediff(other media also) has published the letter written by Chairman Raju to SEBI where he had stated that the balance sheet was his creative place to write down numbers he wanted to.
If this is the case with one (or ex) of the IT top-5, what abt the chottu-mottu companies ?
Why do we have Auditors who are paid astronomical fees, if they are neither independent nor reliable?
Well, as an individual, I have only 2 Questions in mind:
Should I buy at these low prices hoping a buy-back or take-over or exchange ?
Or keep quiet and expect it to settle in the long term on its own ?
What's ur suggestion?

2009 - The New year
Let the new year see the beginnings of things you had always hoped for and the end of those habits you want to get rid of!
How did you ring in the new year? We had been to a friend's apartment association celebration and had fun with friends. It was a bit funny as well, as the entertainment turned into playing 'Housie' after dinner on the NY eve and people like were desperately looking for the lady to announce stop of the play instead of the numbers. Finally when it ended at 11.50 pm, we had lost lot of our nails :-) Then came the DJ who preferred melodies and I agree with him, but a Ghajini number on the dance floor?
The good numbers were put off in the first stanza and I was furious when my favorite 'Bhool Bhulaiya' met that end :-(
Overall, it was fun and the beginning act was lots of laugh. Hope the laughter continues into the year as well.
